Isaac Daniel
With a foundation of knowledge gained from studying at the Baltimore City School for the Arts, The University of Memphis, and Berklee College of Music, Isaac Daniel officially began his journey as an engineer and producer as a teenager. He experimented with drums, piano, and a lot of sound equipment at home, school, and mainly in church. Daniel chose to pursue a degree in Music and Communication with a concentration in jazz studio performance and recording technology from the University of Memphis. His musicianship continued to develop throughout college as he delved deeper into musical theory and performance. Daniel also has extensive knowledge and experience on the business side of the industry.
Daniel is now the Executive Director of the Soulsville Foundation's Stax Music Academy.
Beginning his industry career as an intern for The Recording Academy (NARAS), of the Grammy Awards, Daniel expanded his horizons through other internships at Ardent Recording Studios, Young Avenue Sound, and other major and home recording studios in Memphis. He began working sessions in 2005 at the legendary House of Blues Recording Studios in Memphis, Tennessee and over the years Daniel has been fortunate to work with some of the best recording artists, musicians and producers in the industry and now works independently at various commercial recording studios in Memphis and throughout the U.S.
As the program specialist at the Memphis Music Foundation, Daniel created and led a monthly workshop series titled “In The Studio.” These standing-room-only mentoring sessions and seminars took place in many of the studios where Daniel worked, including legendary studios such as Ardent, Royal, and Sun.
He continues to work as a producer and engineer with emerging artists. He also shares his knowledge as Executive Director at the Stax Music Academy and manager of the Memphis Slim House, a music community center housed in the Soulsville neighborhood.
Daniel also has volunteered his talents to help ArtsMemphis, NAACP, Memphis Music Initiative, Heal the Hood, Memphis Youth Manifesto, Young Producers Bootcamp, and The Boy Scouts of America
